Which of course is the old kids joke (and being an old kid, I still do it)- for those of you who grew up underprivileged- you ask your friend if they want a Hertz Donut (which is similar to a duckway. Before you ask, about six pounds. And don't even get me started on a Hemingway). They ask 'what's a Hertz Donut?' You punch them and say 'Hertz Donut.' A variation on this is you ask who won the sixth race at Aqueduct. They say they don't know. You then hit their leg and say 'Charlie Horse.' Yeah, childhood sucked. Nowadays of course with no bullying, the kids miss out on all the fun.
Recently got a different car. My wife's Subaru (which spelled backwards is U R A Bus- amaze your friends) was on its last legs and wouldn't pass inspection.
And the dealer whom I bought a couple of cars from in the past is now out of business. And the dealer I bought from last time...I just didn't feel like I got a great deal. The car has had no problems, but I feel I overpaid which I realize is on me, but I didn't like it.
That's where the internet is a godsend- I use the reviews more than ever. If you felt like you were treated badly, then I suspect they won't treat me well either. I found a dealer with stellar reviews, but he was in Batavia, and I didn't feel like driving out there. I found another one with great reviews but his selection wasn't that good.
I had been considering buying from Enterprise. I bought a rental many moons ago and had no issues so that doesn't frighten me. But their prices were just average.
Then my wife found a car at a good price at Hertz. I didn't even know they sold cars.
Easy process EXCEPT...that darned Subaru.
They gave us nothing in trade which is what I expected- it's a 2003 that won't pass inspection.
But..there's an open recall on it...and I had to get that taken care of first! So I had to contact the local Subaru dealer to handle that first!
But all in all, if you're looking for a newer car at a reasonable price with no hassle...try Hertz. It won't.
