The wonders of traveling for the state never cease.
I found myself in the five-story hotel in Bath again (not sure if I mentioned this quirk or not, but they have lush carpet in the rooms...so lush that you have to pull the door closed. One day when checking in, I got to my room to find the door partially open as the chambermaid hadn't pulled it closed...I did check that the TV, bed etc were all there, and I also checked to make sure no one was hiding in the bathroom. Can never be too safe).
This time, the quirk I found was the bathroom door.
I used the bathroom and was reading when I noticed the toilet kept running. So I went in and jiggled the handle and then closed the bathroom door in case my advanced repair hadn't worked.
A little while later, I went to the bathroom...to find the door locked.
So I went down to the front desk and told them I needed a key for the bathroom as I had locked myself out.
The person at the desk told me that there was no key. BUT if I had any key that could fit in the lock, it would work. If I couldn't get it open, come back down and they would use the desk key to get it.
So I found a small key on my key chain and was able to get it open (odd lock that ANY key works...)
I then figured I'd remedy the problem for the future but unlocking the door.
I couldn't. The button was depressed (like me when I read Nick's attacks on me) and would not unlock.
Crazy design all around.
