Bob Matthews is retiring.
He wrote his farewell column today. And he even threw a shout-out to Zjabs in there!
And I quote 'One jealous local blogger trying to make a name for himself and boost his tiny readership called me the `all-time worst sports journalist'. I never thought I was that bad.'
A couple of points- first, not really sure where he got the 'jealous' part from- other than that I'm a state worker so I'm essentially paid to do nothing...and I think BOB had it easy (though he did have to look at the cover of the Sports Illustrated weekly, so that was taxing), and secondly, no one knows my readership except myself and Webmaster Mike. So for it to be asserted that I have a 'tiny readership' without anything to back it up is (gasp)....poor journalism.
And I am proud to be the answer to a trivia question- 'Who was the last recipient of poor journalism in a Bob Matthews column....'
And believe it or not, I'm going to miss him. The Golden Hack Award was a lot of fun- and I doubt whomever they hire is going to be as much fun.
Good luck, Bob. If you're interested, I'll let you write one column a week for me.

PS. At least I know who one of the members of my 'tiny readership' is- I appreciate it, Bob.
