We usually buy the huge packs of Scotts single ply tp. The extra fluffy stuff is soft but goes way too quickly.

Editor's Note: Wegmans does have a single ply available but I prefer less sheets and downy soft comfort.

You mean it's not just the Aldi's brand that isn't as wide?

Editor's Note: All the major brands have shrunk. There are two brands I researched that remajin wide but are not available at Wegmans and probably other Rochester vendors. Also I have no knowledge how soft they might be.

My online name would seem to imply some expertise in this area. Sadly, I claim none.

One question: How important is the width of the material to you? Or, does this get in to areas that you and I are not likely to ever discuss? (I guess that literally that's two questions.)

Editor's Note: The paper was originally designed at 4.5 inches that I have no doubt a lot of reswarch went into.

Now I have no choice as to whether use the product as designed by research or pay the same or more for a smaller product.

Note that this product was not offered as an alternative; they just stop making the larger width rolls while probably raising the price.

Its no more than hidden inflation.

And yes I do have hands large enough to make good use of a large width.

Some marketing genius will eventually see the opportunity to make a "deluxe" width roll available for those of us willing to pay the difference.

I thought my hand was getting bigger.

Editor's Note: As long as the target area is not.

thumbsup.gif I could not find the article I once wrote, (I think?), about the shrinking toilet paper in an inflationary spiral where they keep trying to scare the crap out of us, U.S.

Standard harsh ply, the old bias ply Scott's is still 1000 sheets long, and $1.19 a roll. (but a little narrower like the anal retentive CEO's.)

(used to be 99 cents. I just noticed my keyboard doesn't even carry the cents sign thingy, didn't there used to be a key for cents? or sense?)

Anyway I diverge...The new radial ply has a lower profile but "corners" much better at higher speeds.
Ahhhh. the old ---TOIL-"e.t." paper. T.P. for short.

Sounds like a column here for me. "The Shrinking Toilet Paper Caper?"

I used to write on a roll in small bursts then wind it back, usually at other peoples homes, just to see if they ever noticed the writing on the roll so to speak... (I used to sign it "The Thinker-s") That's why it should always unwind top down...

Just some random comments from the porcelain throne room we all visit occasionally...

Editor's Note: Sorry I missed your original column.
