It's very likely, in my estimation. But also in my estimation, that will be nothing to rejoice.

I'd like to say, "We shall see," but I'm aware of my remaining years, and realize I may never see the worst of it.

Editor's Note: It's still a long ways to November . Perhaps the Chinese curse "may you live in interesting time" makes more sense now. Thanx Jay

thumbsup.gif Thanx for the grins.

Also, Thanx for the honor of including me in your picture. I remember well when two writers came to visit me, at the Jack Wisby Center in Batavia, in 2010.

As always, a privilege and a pleasure to know you...

Editor's Note: Im following your latest chronicle.

Very good work!

"The Tail Wagging The Dog."

I just had a few thoughts about your previous column.
How True?
The "media" likes to wag
all the tales of all the big dogs, (and horses?).

I believe in my moderate, mellow, mind,
it is the "system" that I find incongruous.

The ritual and tradition
of the entire primary race
that has to start in Iowa, N.H. and S.C.
that trips up so many dark horses,
of either party, or "independents",
in the first turn.

Three little states that seem to have a
disproportionate spin on what
the rest of the country has to select from.

Media "EXPOSURE", (and "Overexposure") ,
has a direct effect on voting results.

(people vote what they see, hear, and recognize,
more than what they believe, "to be",
the greater of several goods,
promoted by sponsors
selling the public short rather than long.)

My idea is a Fantasy election,
like fantasy football.

We have the technology,
why not a simultaneous digital primary, (or poll),
across all 50 states, (and D.C.),

(once a month, to weed down a field of candidates,
and leave the media, out of it,
with "their" anal y sis and "experts..)

With demographic breakdowns, by age groups, sex, and IRS "status",who votes what??? etc...

Like a political triple crown run off ,
A Dear"be"e, A "Peak"ness,
and Then a long Bell-Mount race
for the rose garden ...

I'm sure OTB could set it up
and even have "bets" taken from home by computer.
(a dollar and a real dream election)

Just a little food for thought
that you helped to inspire.

Thanx John

Editor's Note: I think voting based on instantaneous emotions would unfortunately favor the dog"s tail, not head.

Our system's natural delays are blessings in disguise.

Evolution is a relatively slow process unlike revolution.

Of course sometimes revolution is resorted to out of necessity.
