Bet when you read my title -- you thought I miraculously picked the winner of the Belmont! I didn't. As my readers know I love the horse races, but to tell you the truth - the wind was taken right out of my sails with the announcement of 'I'll have Another's' scratch. All that being said I am totally in agreement with the owner. Everyone has told me it is a money thing - I would like to keep wearing my rose colored glasses and believe, they truly had the horse's interest in mind. Now it is my hope that in a couple years we will watch his off-spring with the same enthusiasm. Of course I watched the race. I was truly thrilled with the outcome. If it could not be a triple crown -- then this was the next best thing.
However, that is not what I am writing about today from my Cottage on this picture perfect Sunday afternoon. I am writing about my pals, the birds.
With the demise of the opossum; the trap was reset. Marshmallows in place. Friday morning I woke to see the big racoon I spoke of earlier peering at me through his beady eyes with a message that said I would be sorry if he could get out of that cage. Good news, he could not!!!
I realize there may be more where those creatures came from - but for today I am relishing in my birding.
I have house finches, cardinals, goldfinches, sparrows, nuthatches, downey woodpeckers, and mourning doves to entertain me..... and just a few minutes ago the wonderful redbellied woodpecker arrive, not to mention evidently the hummers like nyjer seed as well.
You know it is really too bad the great American bird count is not now - My career would be launched.
Oh, wait a minute, I guess i wouldn't have time, my yacht is approaching to take me for a ride..... just musin today from paradise!!
