March 23 Soul in Adversity
I will use the most painful situations in my life as a catalyst for soul growth. In deep trials lie opportunities to come closer to the core of myself and to draw out, from my inner depths, strength and spirituality that I didn't know were there. As I would stand near to a loving parent when I felt insecure as a child, so I will stand nearer to God when trouble comes.
Adversity is an opportunity for soul growth.
When my husband, Benigno, was imprisoned at the start of martial law in 1972, we thought life was over. We could not understand this injustice. But I asked myself what sins Jesus had committed to make His sacrifice justified, and I realized we are all faced with injustices. If we have faith, we can overcome every difficulty. My husband had not been a religious person, but once he was in jail, God was the only one he could turn to. Through reading the Bible and putting his destiny in God's hands, he become strongest at the time he felt weakest.
