repost---WHY 'SHOULD', G.O.D. BLESS AMERICA???---10/17/2011

Maybe a better song lyrically than the national anthem pandered to the NFL "OWNERS"""

======================

They used to say,
Or 'May God help me.'
In their oath before
The Bar.(no, not that 'bar.')

But they threw him out,
Said they didn't need him,
In their separation of
Church and State.

They said they didn't
'NEED' the Ten Commandments,
Nor needed to 'Obey' them.

So they defenestrated the
Ten simple rules of
Civilized Behavior.

I may be crazy,
Butt all this seems to me,
To have happened since
Women got equal rights and beyond,
Even when that
ERA Amendment didn't pass.
(or get ratified?)

I do remember 1983
almost as well as the sixties,
I just can't remember
today's breakfast.

And there was a feminist lawyer
On TV who said,
and I quote,
in an evolutionary paraphrase,

'Why should women settle,
for equal rights,
when they deserve more.'

=======================================

So now, millions of American Citizens,
know how it feels to be divorced from their
Democratic Republic and
'ordered'
to pay
unreasonable
'Child Support'
for the 'infant'
(infantile, immature?)
children of the government.

by the people
for the people
of the people,
who 'run' the
government,
like a custodial
parent who has
NO ACCOUNTABILITY for
monies received,
but just keeps coming back
asking for more,
and more.

(and this Raven said
'Nevermore. No Mas'

Lyrics

While the storm clouds gather far across the sea,
Let us swear allegiance to a land that's free.
Let us all be grateful for a land so fair,
As we raise our voices in a solemn prayer:

God bless America, land that I love,
Stand beside her and guide her
Through the night with a light from above.
From the mountains, to the prairies,
To the oceans white with foam,
God bless America, my home sweet home.
God bless America, my home sweet home.
God Bless America! (1834)

An earlier and much more obscure song called 'God Bless America!' was written by Robert Montgomery Bird and published in 1834. Sheet music for this version is available online from the Library of Congress.
The lyrics begin:

God bless the land that gave us birth!
No pray'r but this know we.
God bless the land, of all the earth,
The happy and the free.
And where's the land like ours can brave
The splendor of the day.
And find no son of hers a slave?
God bless America!
God bless the land, the land beloved
Forever and for aye!
God bless the land that gave us birth.
God bless America!
