I expect that is exactly what Darth is doing; he is rewriting history in attempt to avoid charges.

Editor's Note: I don't understand why the media plays along.

Oh Timmy you and AC have been so good to me this week. I haven't smiled this much in a long long time.

Please keep doing what you are doing. It is extremely important to us that you do. I would actually like to see you write here more often.

Editor's Note: Thanks Mickey, I wish I had the time

Rush Limbaugh claims that Cheney is motivated by "love of country" in his attacks on Obama. He's doing it all to make us safer.

I wish he would stop trying to make me safe...

Editor's Note: Me too

"Remember, Dick Cheney got more deferments (5) from active military duty than anyone who has ever held the office of Vice President."

Early on your article contains a gross untruth which tends to immediately diminish the credibility of the rest of the story.

Current VP Biden got EXACTLY the same number(5) of military deferments as did Cheney.

I'm aware that there may be some shock value in that remark, but you might want to check the "facts" given you by other authors before citing them as the truth.

There are other statements in your essay that may not be true, as well. Cheney has not been proven to have illegally tortured people as you allege.

One last observation; I wasn't aware that it was possible to drown someone "repeatedly". I thought if someone drowned, that was pretty much it. Does lend a little shock value to the term water boarding though doesn't it?

Editor's Note: Yes but Biden had asthma; Cheney had yellow fever. Drowning is likely the word I should've used, but quibbling about tense is but another way of looking without seeing; something you've likely mastered over the past 8 years.

"Yes but Biden had asthma; Cheney had yellow fever"

Again you need some clarification. Joe Biden received 5 student deferments( not medical deferments for asthma) just as did Cheney. It was after his last deferment that Biden was classified 1-Y.

Editor's Note: I haven't read the contents of Biden's deferments so I cannot say that, though a student at the time, asthma was not a factor. Can you?

God bless Vice President Cheney!!!

If more patriots don't start standing up, the Constitutional Republic may be in it's last throes. Great news, eh Timmy? AC? BF?

Editor's Note: Patriots stood up. That's why you and your ilk are on the side lines, powerless, lost, and worshiping chickenhawks.

Best explanation I have seen

Editor's Note: "We've come through a very bad time. This has been a period of craziness." Amen brother; thanks Jim.

I have had asthma all my life. As a child, I spent time in the hospital, living in an oxygen tent. I endured allergy shots for years, used inhalers, and avoided anything and everything that could have triggered an attack.

I never grew out of it.

I also spent 6 years in the US Navy, serving my country - asthma and all.

Asthma is a poor excuse for getting a deferment, Vice-president Biden.

Editor's Note: Yeah, I agree. I too served my country. We are brothers in arms. Thanks for weighing in.

Right on Jim, great video. If that doesn't describe our resident religious right fanatics I don't know what does.

Pete, Mickey...your assignment...read Frank Schaeffer's blog every day for a month. Let's see if changes your perspective.

Editor's Note: A great challenge but do you really think these people are up to that? I don't. I think they prefer to keep reality at a distance, hence the exaggerated religiosity.

Before you put Cheney on the gallows, don't you think all the information should be released, not just the parts that fit a certain agenda? And do you really want to open that bag of snakes? As it looks now, several of the higher-ups in the Dem party are also co-conspirators. By the way, treason is defined as giving aid or comfort to your country's enemies, or planning to overthrow or disrupt your own gov. I fail to see where attempting to extract info from avowed enemies of not just our country, but our Religious beliefs, IN ORDER TO PROTECT THIS COUNTRY falls into that definition. You clain we've lost respect in the world. I say, until the threat of terrorism is removed, not just here, but world-wide, these countries' tongues will not be freed from the fear of recrimination from the very murderers they pretend aren't there.

Editor's Note: Evidence presented on capitol Hill this week, with testimony from FBI interrogators who were present during interrogations suggests that the torture program Bush and Cheney created didn't even work. Go read the transcripts.

We've been exposed to one version of the truth. Why is it satisfactory to you for only part of the documentation to be released? For the moment, let's put aside whether or not useful information was extracted. Suppose we randomly grabbed an innocent American citizen and he was waterboarded. The perpetrators would perhaps be guilty of assault, or attempted murder (a stretch). But where does this fit the definition of treason, when not used on an American citizen, with rights guaranteed under the Constitution, but on an avowed enemy of the state? And how many of these 'innocent detainees' are you and your neighbors willing to have as neighbors if released? Nobody wants a sex offender around, but how about trained enemy assassins? Tell me you'd welcome them with open arms and perhaps I'd be able to understand your position, though still disagree.

Editor's Note: Just reminisce over the past 8 years. Have we moved closer to a safe and secure America? Are our soldiers abroad safer? Does inflamming a good portion of the world, in the name of fighting Islamofascism create a safer environment for our children? Do the bases we're building in Afghanistan, to protect the TAPI pipeline create 'blowback'? Shouldn't our public officials be honor bound to let Americans know what they're doing abroad, or shall we let officials like Cheney spin a line of baloney about supposed 'evil' people? If so, does not Madison Avenue represent our biggest threat?

Americans are safer. Our soldiers are suffering significantly fewer casualties. The rest of the world is too chicken s#&(t to speak out against Islamofascism, out of fear of recrimination, and I agree our officials should tell the public the truth. How about the Obama admin setting the example and explain the true agenda they've imposed on us? Now, do you really think waterboarding a terrorist is treasonous? C'mon. And you avoided answering whether your neighborhood would welcome our friendly Gitmo detainees into your neighborhood. Simple question, but the response could be very revealing.

Editor's Note: The evidence suggests that a majority of Gitmo detainees were innocent men; at least before they were abused. CIA reports, as well as RAND reports suggest that GWOT has been a recruiting tool for al-qaeda. Unless you examine these findings then your take on the situation is merely one that someone gave you, and now you repeat; not my idea of good debate material. As for those casualty numbers, history strongly suggests that to rely on such numbers is to ignore the more troubling aspects of a conflict, i.e. Vietnam.

I can't believe Obama would lie to us about the body count!!!!! Do you want these innocent Al-qaeda-trained victims in your neighborhood or not?

Editor's Note: My point was body counts aren't an indicator of success or failure, nor should we define progress by citing numbers.

Why do you have to villify Dick Cheney? He is clearly more conservative that Bush ever hoped to be. Is that what scares you? You're afraid that somehow somebody will figure out these are just people trying to do the best they can by the country?

Editor's Note: Paranoia does not a good public servant make.
