Selective perception Part Three-and random comments+ update
I Am an equal opportunity critic.
SECOND UPDATE Tuesday Morning: It looks like the glitch is more serious than anticipated so we had better batten the hatches till the storm subsides. Meanwhile let's appreciate the positive.
This seems to have brought out the urge to actually write. For some it must be a new experience to write knowing that comments will not be forthcoming.
After considering on what I wrote for today I hope that this plague lasts less than the traditional seven days.
UPDATE Monday 1030 AM: Having worked for the telephone company I can appreciate what happens when people's communication channels get SNAFU'd
There is no way to pretest these technical updates and moves so glitches happen (G rated version)I Am sure our webpeople are hard at work on a solution.
I usually check Lonsberry's column that uses the same service.
Since WOTL's comment process is still on the fritz I'll use this space of my column.
Re Divine Deadbeat Dad's "Does God Evolve?":- humankind's perception of God evolves. What many of us experience now is of a less personal Universal Consciousness that is the basis for Natural Law.
The Eastern religion's concept of the Greater Self is as close as I can get to explaining my own perception of "The Great Spirit" as our Native Americans saw the God principle. __________________________________________________________---
Re AC's column on the Right needing to take responsibility:
They think they own the word "responsibility" except it is only the Neocons on that side that really think that narrowly.
Unfortunately I need to mention to my liberal WOTLer AC that we on the Left also have had our share of selective perception.
I feel the past defeat in Mass. was ours to loose and we did. The Neocons only had to play into the people's discontent and frustration of real issues regardless of who caused them. We were asleep at the switch and woke up too late to save that election.
We Democrats have learned from the Republicans how to win an election with money but still have much more to learn about organization and dirty politics.
We still are babes in the woods when it comes to psychological manipulation and propaganda. I see from Palin's statements that she is learning what to parrot on the real key issues.
One of my biggest complaints with my Party is that they don't properly address the NRA effect and proactively counter it with an organization we can support..
There was a feeble attempt in 2008 with no obvious follow thru to provide a voice for the Democrat gun sportsman.
Unfortunately there is a vocal and influential but ignorant minority in our party that complicates the issue as they attempt banning guns..
We can make the Nation's use and possession of guns safer without banning them.
Obama and company also seems to have lost the favor of a majority of supporters in his effort to compromise and be bipartisan.
2012 is far enough away to regain support of the people if we play our cards right but for the present just fixing the economy wont be enough.
I Am not as worried about the short term losses expected in the mid term elections as much as the need for party unity when it comes to issues.
I recall the damage that the independent Ralph Nader did and now observe the same thing with Liberman.
The independents in Mass won the election there.
They cannot be ignored as their ranks will grow. It is how Reagan won power. Now Obama needs to regain it from the independents without catering to their fickle but charismatic spokesmen like Beck and Palin.
