CUT & PASTE WARNING

Better double check...

Have you ever noticed that your computer “remembers” what you last cut from a document and can paste it in somewhere else at the most inopportune time?

Now I know that also requires a little mistake or two on the user’s part...like me.

I just got my car back from insurance-covered repairs from when I hit the deer last week.  Everything went smoothly and I was very pleased with the insurance company, the repair shop and the car rental place.

The agent sent me an email follow-up and I intended to reply with what I typed in, which was this:

“I just picked up the car yesterday and it's great!  I had new studded snows loaded in the rental and Sterling put them on for me at modest charge.  It was a pleasure driving home in that 1st dangerous snow with the car completely repaired and winterized.

I'm pleased with Allstate, Sterling and Enterprise - would recommend that combination to my friends.

Thanks!

Tom Dey”

But I then accidentally hit cntrl Z (?) for no good reason --- and that text disappeared.  So I hit cntrl V, intending to restore it and this appeared:

“I long ago concluded that suicide is usually an act of abject selfishness. And that probably explains why most of us are still around. We ‘have promises to keep and miles to go before we sleep.’”

Which was my response to a Lonsberry column the day before!

The good news is that I caught it just before I (would have) hit “SEND.”

What the hell would the insurance agent have thought?!  Probably, “Drop this guy ASAP.”

Sooooooo...  Have you ever accidentally sent out an email that you regretted?

Tom
