Now comes the wonderful time of year when the animals emerge from hibernation or hunkering down and appear as if from nowhere. I do see signs of them even in mid-winter walks through the snow – but now they are emerging in force! Deer, coyotes, rabbits, field mice, wood chucks, turkeys, insects, fish, chipmunks, squirrels, bears, snakes (a bit later), owls, the migratory returns of humming birds, geese, girl friends - and of course the extraordinarily shy Bigfoot. Below are a few pictures of the turkeys that were leisurely sauntering through our yard a couple of days ago. I have seen their tracks for miles through the snow so they have quite a territory. They look especially cute in later spring when they have their little turkeylings following in line behind. Tom
