"the world is going to turn its back on Haiti," David Ansell, a doctor from Chicago's Rush University Medical Center who is part of an emergency relief team, said in the Haitian capital on Saturday.

Unfortunately, I'd have to agree with that prediction.

One of things to consider is the lack of scrutiny that the Obama Administration will be under. No matter what this guy does, he will receive only praise. Remember when outraged liberals who blamed a hurricane on President Bush, and even the failure of local and state Democrats? I do. I remember the hatred. A hatred that runs so deep that all these years later there are liberals cheering for the Saints in the Superbowl, oh beloved symbol of a Bush black eye.

But don't expect equal treatment for President Obama. Nothing this guy can do will blamed on him. And unlike the blame pinned on Bush regardless of the fact that it was actually Democrats at fault, the press is already beginning to focus on Florida governor Charlie Crist to start pointing fingers as the Obama Administration prepares run from Haiti.

The bottom like in all of this is that Haiti will be forgotten by most folks. But you know who will be there 1, 5, 10, 20, 100 years from now? The same folks who were there 1, 5, 10, 20, 100 years ago... Christians running missions where nobody else cares. It's the problem with government solutions and non-faith based charity. It's all about numbers to them.

I remember working for the Humane Society. I found the whole thing disgusting to be honest. They were treated like a charity and were loud and proud that they are one! Never mind the fact that the folks who work there have stable jobs that pay pretty well. They beg and assault you with images of poor abused animals, and some of them are, but it turned my stomach to watch rich donors lavishing animals with large sums of money when human beings are suffering around the world. Every pet I have ever owned came from the humane society except a dog that I got in Germany (not even sure if they have one there), so I do believe in helping these helpless creatures. However I draw the line at pretending not to see that it's a business when the day is done.

Some charities are run like businesses. One of the charities I give to through the Combined Federal Campaign (I'm sure you vets remember the CFC) is Gospel for Asia. One of the unique things they do is that they don't import missionaries. They train them in country from folks in that country who answer the call to ministry. They literally raise their own salaries to fund their missions and their compensation, so maximum funds go to the intended targets... the poor who need the help the most.

So who will rescue Haiti? Conservatives. The folks who fill the churches, who donate the money and continue the work even when nobody, notices or is looking. The only place you'll find liberals in this mix are a very select and tiny minority who take very seriously the call of Jesus Christ to feed the hungry. Folks like World Vision CEO and President, Richard Stearns. He's a liberal, and he is TOTALLY committed Christian. The difference between folks like Stearns and other liberals is that he loves God, not hates Him. He supports the pro-life movement, instead of finding ways to throw darts at Tim Tebow for daring to be alive and happy about it.

The Saints may go marching in, but I assure it will the Saints who serve Jesus Christ, not the New Orleans liberal Superbowl favorite, that marches in, gets to work and can and will be found there still working decades from now.
