It wasn't a 'State of the Union' Address
Isn't a "State of the Union Address" supposed to address the state of the Union?
I saw teleprompters and the lecturing of a man who still doesn't realize that he is no longer campaigning for President. I learned very little about the state of the Union this evening, how about you? Did you learn anything about the state of the Union?
Now I realize that all Presidents use the opportunity to advance their agenda. This is an absolute that knows no political party exclusivity. However, I'm still waiting for him to recap what he did the last year, not excuses for why he failed to deliver on the grandiose campaign whoppers that got him into office.
Honestly, he's a charming fellow. He is indeed a good looking and light-skinned African American with no Negro dialect, unless he wanted to have one, but that's not why he is charming. He has a childlike smile and a fun sense of humor. If he were the countries speech czar, I'd be delighted. Unfortunately his job requires more.
In my estimation I see the state of the Union and it is not strong. It is divided, and largely because of the nastiness that the far left bashed half of the citizens with, and because after promising to seek bipartisan support and good faith, he in fact fueled the fires of bitterness by being a bully.
Mr. Obama if you want to be the President us you promised us all while running for President, I suggest that you quit wagging your finger, fast from teleprompters and speeches for a while, and get to work as President of the United States rather than a condescending lecturer.
He gives better speeches than Bush did, but doesn't have the ability lead like his predecessor did on his worst day.
My favorite quote came not from the speech given by Mr. Obama, but form the GOP response by the Virginia Governor, Bob McDonnell... "As our Founders clearly stated, and we Governors understand, government closest to the people governs best"
