A Guaranteed win in 2012 if...

There should be no doubt in anyone's mind that what happened in Massachusetts was much more than a "buzz saw" in the background in national politics. It was a game changing 9.0 earthquake that needs one more thing to make sure that we take this nation back by storm...

What did Senator-elect Brown run on?

On defense, he wants a military "second to none," and no constitutional protections for enemy captives. He even said waterboarding is not torture. On the environment, he's skeptical man is warming the planet and he flatly opposes the cap-and-trade bill being pushed by the president and congressional Democrats. And of course, he's against the centerpiece of the Obama agenda: the health care reform bill.

Add to this a promise to put marijuana on the same level as alcohol and end the witch hunt. Legalize it, regulate it, tax it and empty our prisons of people who have committed no other serious crimes because of it.

America’s criminal justice system has deteriorated to the point that it is a national disgrace. … The United States has by far the world’s highest incarceration rate. With 5% of the world’s population, our country now houses nearly 25% of the world’s reported prisoners.

… Drug offenders, most of them passive users or minor dealers, are swamping our prisons. … Justice statistics also show that 47.5% of all the drug arrests in our country in 2007 were for marijuana offenses. Additionally, nearly 60% of the people in state prisons serving time for a drug offense had no history of violence or of any significant selling activity. … African-Americans — who make up about 12% of the total U.S. population population — accounted for 37% of those arrested on drug charges, 59% of those convicted, and 74% of all drug offenders sentenced to prison.

… It is incumbent on our national leadership to find a way to fix our prison system.”

It would be the end of the progressive liberal movement, and the beginning of a new conservative and independent majority movement to become the Constitutional Republic we once were. Once this hurdle was successfully put behind us, we could move forward and on to looking at the rest of our laws that violate Constitutional principals. We could set in our long term sights a movement to repeal the 17th amendment to restore state sovereignty, and begin stripping the federal government of every single unconstitutional morsel of power they have accumulated in the past 100 years. It could be the beginning point where we understood the role of the federal government as the protector of liberty, states as the vehicles to achieve social security (not Social Security, but social security) and individuals as masters of their ship in a free nation of, for and by the people.

We have got to stop doing things for good reasons, or because they might have other consequences (as I wrote about yesterday). We must start to see our federal government for what it is supposed to be, and limit it whenever and wherever possible. If a state wants to make marijuana illegal, then let the state deal with it. But unless the Constitution was amended (as was the case in prohibition), the federal government should not prohibit it. It's about getting our lanes straight, our minds re-focused and our view of government reset to be what we were always supposed to be... a Constitutional Republic.
