Just a warning: we seldom carry a balance on our credit card.
I usually pay my bill early, but this year, I did it one day before the usual due date. I've had the same due date for twenty five years.
They changed my statement, with some little notice in the mail. It was not with my statement, and it was full of lots of writing, only to deceive- "They had to change it by order of the new laws enacted" was the explanation from the service rep.
I was thinking- these new laws for the people (so "THEY" say,) is not for this person!
So they changed my billing due date and charged me a late fee.
I called, they refunded the late fee, but you know, I get to pay interest on it too, it's more like 29 plus 20 percent. Think about that....
(if you feel the need to argue with me warning: I'm cross, angry and using a lot prescribed drugs for pain. Can't sleep because I hurt - so I'm writing a gripe column. I saw a license plate that said 357 PMS on my way to the doctor. cracked me up!
I have three herniated disk in my neck- the 357 PMS does not come close to this! I check into the hospital Monday to have them removed, but a nice lady from the hospital called today to "pre- register, which really means bring your license, your insurance card and the $3250 to pay them at the time of service.
That's our deductible, our co-pay, and our twenty percent... With a twenty five percent discount for payment at time of services.
I was going to put it on the credit card for a couple weeks and wait for my health savings to pay for it. Either way- to save 25 percent, I put it on the credit card for a few days, and take the chance of paying the 16.75 percent. - or 25 percent to the hospital. I dont' know. I hurt so much, I really don't care either. We've bought two cars in two months, had auto repairs, and other exciting events. Really, I wonder how long our credit score can take all this abuse?
Any way back to the credit card.... I've used it for business. Not anymore. This month I charge laser toner, some software and a few other things. I will find another way. It' s the principle of the thing! (Credit card through credit union is probably better deal. We kept this credit card- because it was our first credit account. It was sentimental. It is not a credit card, it was how we built our life together. We bought a house, got a dog, applied for a credit card. Bought a chain saw with it, so we didn't freeze our second winter. We paid it off right away, and then ended up buying a typewriter for school.
We paid that off too.
A song: to the Tune, "Take This Job and Shove It."
Take this card and shove it. I'm not usin' you know more. The abusin' and the confusin' I constantly abhor.
Keep your balance transfers, your checks you send in the mail, Keep your customer service, when I cancel you, don't wail .
Your services aren't convenient, your rates are not polite. But its been nice doing business with you in the middle of the night.
Upon request, they changed it right back to the first, as it has always been, which leads me to believe they had to change it in order to finish pillaging the villages, before their laws change.
So, this credit card that had super low interest rate, even with a credit around 800, is now at 19 percent.
They lowered it all the way to their lowest rate: 16.74 !!!
I asked the rep, if her employer realized, we will close the account. They've lost our business.
She said, she expected a lot of people would. But if I would call back in March, she thinks the bad stuff will be over with, and we can get a better rate.
Did you ever think it was a good idea to get punched by some one, and then check and see if they would be nice to you a few weeks later?
There's nothing left to discover....guess what's not in our wallet? it might be priceless, but its not worth it. American Express- is no longer the gold standard.
