thumbsup.gif I enjoyed your column and I can relate some what. I wasn't quite last, but I was the anchor leg on the far end of the pines. (Sitting the bench)... I had a couple of opportunities, but I was a physical failure. (only red mark I ever got on a report card was for physical education...)I guess I didn't measure up to their standards in the early sixties...

I went through this as a parent, with some of my children excelling and some not so. It's not easy to encourage any children not athletically inclined...

I guess that is why I liked Track and Field for both my boys and girls. They competed to better their personal best more than the competition of greater and lesser athletes...

Editor's Note: Thanks Little John. This was the first thought of a little story that seemed to go its own direction. I was never good at physical sports or it was inside the classroom I experienced success.
