good job.... we;ve been speaking on the subject as of late. I needed to prepare for a lesson last week- and the Resurrection, the promise of hope. although, it was not the subject matter, came to me over and over again. The resurrection- is hope! In our most down moments, our most pitiful places, in the hopeless times of our lives, there is always- the infinite atonement and the resurrection of the Son of God. HOPE.... Thanks Michael! Editor's Note: Thanks Miss K.
Like Elder Wirthin said, "Sunday will come."

Love 2 Nephi chapter 2.... Editor's Note: Ever notice how Jacob's teachings in 2 Ne. 9 seem to reflect what his father taught him in 2 Ne. 2?

Just to comment. I am new here but I like to read. May god bless you and yours for the New Year.
I am recovering from a debilitating mental illness, PTSD.(and bi polar manic depressions)
I was a homeless Vietnam Veteran for four years.
I just thought I'd share with you and the LDS of which I believe you are a member.
When I was homeless, and then when I got my first very cheap apartment, Two young men came to visit me. I had been isolating from people for four years afraid of my horrible thoughts and being shunned by society.
Though with long hair and a long beard they smiled and visited with me. They gave me a book.
Lacking much to read I read it. Not that I believed it, but there was nothing in there that could hurt me either. Please don't take that wrong.
I have a strong faith in independent free thinking.
But what I want to share with you is that these two young men did make a difference in one homeless Vietnam Veterans life. Not by their beliefs per se, but by their kindness, their goodness, and their HUMANITY towards a fellow soul of a "strange" faith, traveling a difficult odyssey of his own.
Please praise your family and all the young men who do go out and show kindness and goodness to all they come across. GOD Bless.
Thanx John -The 3D Amish "X" Marine Corpse of One Tin Soldier. Editor's Note: I am so happy to hear that, John. Thank you.
In that book you will find this passage: "He doeth not anything save it be for the benefit of the world; for he loveth the world, even that he layeth down his own life that he may draw all men unto him. Wherefore, he commandeth none that they shall not partake of his salvation. Behold, doth he cry unto any, saying: Depart from me? Behold, I say unto you, Nay; but he saith: Come unto me all ye ends of the earth, buy milk and honey, without money and without price." (2 Ne. 26:24-25)
Our missionaries, as his servants, are expected to show the world the same kind of love. God bless you, too.

I've not made that connection, but will examine those two chapters. I was just explaining to someone how much I love- Jacob's explanations and adverbs... He uses sentences of adjectives and adverbs, like no one else! His writing is never " I saw a brown cow" It's more like, With the eyes placed in my head by my very maker, I beheld a grand creature of four legs, whose horns were expansive... you get the idea :) Editor's Note: For me the tip-off is the shared theme of agency.
Jacob's style is so direct and plain, I just love him. In my mind he's like an ancient(er) version of our friend Elder Packer.

Oh Michael,
First and Second death, you have that correct.
Paul tries to explain this, (xxxx) mine.
1 Corinthians 15:36-55, "Thou fool, that which thou sowest, (the flesh) is not quickened, (made alive) except it die: (first) And that which thou sowest, thou sowest not that body that shall be, but bare grain, it may chance of wheat, or of some other grain: But God giveth it a body as it hath pleased him, and to every seed his own body. All flesh is not the same flesh: but there is one kind of flesh of men, another flesh of beasts, another of fishes, and another of birds. There are also celestial bodies, and bodies terrestrial: but the glory of the celestial is one, and the glory of the terrestrial is another. There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars: for one star differeth from another star in glory. So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption; (flesh) it is raised in incorruption: (spiritual) It is sown in dishonour; (flesh) it is raised in glory: (Spititual) it is sown in weakness; (flesh) it is raised in power: (spiritual) It is sown a natural body; (flesh) it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body. And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit. Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual. The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven. As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy: and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly. And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly. Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption. Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory."
Paul is explaining that we have two bodies, the flesh and the spiritual. This is why we all constantly war within ourselves. Our spiritual body is our conscience and our flesh body is carnal, they are constantly warring against each other.
Sound Familiar.......
What is not Biblically translated correctly is the word “dead”! Sometimes it means physically dead and other times it means spiritually dead. And many scriptures are misunderstood because of this confusion.
To understand the First and Second death we need to differentiate between the flesh and the spirit.
The first death is the flesh death but with the understanding that our Spiritual being lives on. The second death is the death of our spirit which there is no coming back. We are blotted out, never to be thought of again.
Matthew 10:28, "And fear not them which (can) kill the (flesh) body, but are not able to kill the (spiritual) soul: but rather fear him (GOD) which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell." (The lake of fire).
Yes, we are all given a New Chance when we die in the flesh. BUT when we come to the Judgment Seat, of the Thrown of God, if we do not make the grade we will suffer that second death of which there is no escape.
This is why:
Revelation 21:4, "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away."
All evil rudiments will be gone and there will be no eternal torment of the unjust as some ignorant people teach because in the Lake of Fire all memory of those that go into the Lake of Fire will be stricken from our minds.
This is the Second Death of which there is no return........ Editor's Note: (placeholder comment until I can read it on the site with paragraphing)

You really do some great work from time-to-time, Michael. This is one of those times. Editor's Note: Thank you Wayne. Feel free to use this, in whole or in part, the next time you give a HC talk. (Are you still on the HC?)
