“But as long as we get a goodie from Uncle Obama, all is well in the world, and we don't need to ask any more questions.”
. . . and we will continue to VOTE for obamba and any other demoncrat that promises us a free handout as long as they print “demoncrat” next to their name on the ballot ‘cause otherwise we might be WAY too stupid to know who to vote for. Editor's Note: So much easier to let the "D" and "R" do the arguing rather than getting tangled up in actual ideas and principles. I'll admit I've fallen for it in the past. But no more. Let letters and labels carry no weight.

I guess you and Rush now have something in common; http://www.mlive.com/news/detroit/index.ssf/2009/10/rush_limbaugh_uses_desperation.html
With unemployment at 30% in Detroit and many people on the verge of losing their homes the desperation of the uneducated people in that line is understandable but hey, why pass up a perfect oppurtunity to make a political statement. Editor's Note: Why, thank you. I'd rather have something in common with the intelligent, wealthy, and successful Limbaugh than with these Obama-voting morons who don't give any thought to where the alleged money is coming from, and just plain don't care. "Obama money," the funds are, as if he's just got cash shooting out his butt like dingleberries every time he farts, and not just because the powers-that-be are quickly reducing the dollar to toilet paper status.
They're like, "I don't care where that Rolex came from, Mr. Back-of-Your-Truck Guy, I'm just glad you want to sell it to me for so cheap because I'm poor, stupid, and greedy! Obamhotep! Obamhotep! We love you! Save us by robbing from the segments of society that earlier progressive policies haven't yet left useless and unproductive! Or just print us up some more Monopoly money even though China doesn't want to use it as the currency reserve any more!"
Vice and ignorance. Samuel Adams was so right. And we are so screwed.
Look, I get that times are tough in Detroit (whose fault is that, btw?). Nevertheless this demanding of free money from your Messianic president is not the answer.

Top 10 US Cities with the Highest Poverty Rates What do the top ten cities with the highest poverty rate all have in common? • Detroit, MI (1st on the poverty rate list) hasn’t elected a Republican mayor since 1961 • Buffalo , NY (2nd) hasn’t elected a Republican mayor since 1954 • Cincinnati, OH (3rd)…hasn’t elected a Republican mayor since 1984 • Cleveland, OH (4th)…hasn’t elected a Republican mayor since 1989 • Miami, FL (5th) has never had a Republican mayor • St. Louis, MO (6th)….hasn’t elected a Republican mayor since 1949 • El Paso, TX (7th) has never had a Republican mayor • Milwaukee, WI (8th)…hasn’t elected a Republican mayor since 1908 • Philadelphia, PA (9th)…hasn’t elected a Republican mayor since 1952 • Newark, NJ(10th)…hasn’t elected a Republican mayor since 1907 Einstein once said, ‘The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.’ It is the disadvantaged who habitually elect Democrats — yet are still disadvantaged.
I (Tekel) read something similar before but wasn’t able to trace back to original sources. Nevertheless, it is food for thought. Erik gave 2 links thatI haven’t checked: http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/08/20/beck.cities/index.html http://www.usccb.org/cchd/povertyusa/povfact6.shtml
Calvin Parks commented: “Sources for City Poverty Rankings. The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, Campaign for Human Development used these statistics and cited the U.S. Census Bureau, 2006 American Community Survey, August 2007. Glen Beck, CNN show host used these statistics and cites the ranking by percentage of the city’s population below the federal poverty level. The city rankings come from the U.S Census Bureau.”
Other Parks comments: “A couple of points to consider regarding these “Top Ten Cities” statistics. The largest concentration of the poor is concentrated in large cities in the homeless and ethnic (e.g., black/Hispanic) populations. For decades the socioeconomic condition of these groups has continued to decline. The Democratic governments have promised in the election periods to address these problems. Yet, the problem only gets worse.
“These “poor” groups are in part to blame for their condition because they routinely vote (over 90%) for the Democrats that have not previously fulfilled their campaign promises. If the black and Hispanic populations were to rise up and hold the Democrats “accountable” and vote Republican in the next election, or vice versa, just watch how quickly pro-active change would begin to happen.
“Secondly, there are differences between liberal (Democratic) and conservative (Republican) economic philosophies, so which party we elect does potentially have economic consequences. One of the most striking examples was Mayor Lindsey that drove New York City to the brink of bankruptcy several decades back. There are cities with Democratic mayors that are run very efficiently, e.g., Chicago.” [Some spelling corrections made.] Editor's Note: Thank you Tekel.

Why must excuses be made for people's ineptitude? Idiocy, along with many other bad things, must be embraced and/ or excused. Editor's Note: Yep. Thanks LM.
